Self-efficacy

    Self-efficacy is a theory that could be applied to various aspects of life, and it has a lot of applications to teachers and students. Self-efficacy is the individual's beliefs about his abilities to perform specific behaviors. The more the individual has self-efficacy, the more he will be able to achieve the task. There are different factors that could affect self-efficacy, such as the person's perverse experiences, feedback that is received from other people, observing other people’s behavior, and personal feelings and reflections.

     High self-efficacy affects a person's internal motivations. In addition, his goals become clear and bigger, which leads him to increase his effort. Also, self-efficacy gives the individual more control and it keeps him trying to find new strategies to achieve success. In other words, people with high self-efficacy do not quit easily and have high persistence. For example, students with high self-efficacy were more resistant to failure and have more persistence to achieve success.

         In the hunger games, the bloody atmosphere spread fear and terror among the participants. That affected Katniss's self-efficacy. In the beginning, she could not recognize her strengths, it seemed that she had given up and she was ready to lose.

   

        This situation did not last long, Katniss was received a lot of moral and verbal support from her family and her friends. Reminding her of the hunting skills that she has. That affected her self-efficacy positively. She start recognizing that she was one of the few participants who have previous experiences and skills of real hunting.

        The audience showed up a cheer and admiration for Katniss' performance, which gave her hope and more confidence, and she became known as a "Girl On Fire".

        It could be easy to notice how Katniss' previous experience affected her self-efficacy. For example, the pain has a big impact on her beliefs and brings out her hidden power. It seems that the clarity of her goal and her ability to overcome the frequent pain helped her to develop winning strategies and increase confidence in her abilities.

         Over the time of the game, Katniss showed up a lot of resistance, which raised the level of her self-efficacy. That reflected on her goal to become greater than before. In the beginning, her goal was to survive the game for the sake of the people she loves. But then her goal changed to survive the game to confront and resist the Capitol who created this bloody game, especially after losing her only alliance "Little Rue".
